My Aching Head.

My Aching Head.

What does your spiritual walk look like on an “off” day? Do you know what I mean? I think everyone does… those days when you have a headache; those days when it’s rainy and you just want to sleep; those days when the kids whine about EVERYTHING; those days when that one person in that one meeting just will not shut it!

We have all been there, right? Be joyful always?? How?? My head hurts! My kids are nuts!! That guy is CHEWING WITH HIS MOUTH OPEN!!

Listen, let’s put this in perspective. We are flawed. There is no way we can always be “on”, however I think we all want to be and strive to be… if that was not true, why would we try.

This is a conversation I have a lot with many people. This is always the scripture I gravitate to:

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

Paul talks about running a race in a way to get the prize. We can gather that this is a marathon race. It’s race that needs great endurance, discipline and focus. As we run this race, let’s run it knowing that we will have struggles, hurdles, off days, etc., but let’s keep ourselves under control, regain focus, and pursue the prize that will reflect a LIFE, not a day.

Soli Deo Gloria
