I heard a reporter/commentator make the statement on the news that we need to evaluate our morals and standards. It raised a real question. What are our morals and values? I thought the world was fighting for us to all find “our truth.” I thought we were to “follow our heart” and pursue what makes us happy. I thought we were here based on billions of years of evolution and fizz bumping into fizz, right? So why would we feel the need for rules, codes, morals, standards? I mean if we all are just random creations then how could we possibly justify any measure or law that was not “our truth” or in line with “our heart”?

What is interesting is that the world does not believe in God but at every turn behaves as if there is one. They have to borrow from the Christian belief system to make any sense of the world or create any civil society. They cry out for us all to be caring, kind and compassionate while at the same time telling us that we are here by chance, we are just a result of fizz bumping into fizz, we are to “follow our heart” and “seek our truth.”… As if being kind and compassionate is not a sacrifice that we all make for others well being.

Only when you believe that we are all created by God, in His image, can you ascribe real value to another human being. And until you attribute value to another human you can not cry out for justice, standards, morals or laws in any logical way.

Very bright and well-meaning people fail to make any sense of the world because they refuse to start with the correct presupposition; God created us all in his image and each of us has immense value. Start with that and then we can have a logical discussion about morals and standards.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
