Need 19.76 – Mother of Four Hospitalized

We alert you today to a mother of four girls, that has been hospitalized for months, and is looking at a long road of recovery. She was due to deliver the family’s fourth daughter on Thanksgiving. In August, she suffered from symptoms of the mono virus. That virus triggered an autoimmune disease called Gillian-Barre that hospitalized her on September 22nd. Gillian-Barre attacked the nervous system and left her paralyzed and on life support for 38 days. She miraculously delivered a healthy baby girl, while on a ventilator, on October 7th. During that same week, she underwent a plasma exchange and has begun to recover. Over the past month, she has regained the ability to speak and is starting to contract her arm muscles. She has a long road of recovery in front of her, and the family needs our help. The father must continue working, and the girls (12, 4, 2, 1 month) need childcare while he is at work and the hospital with their mother. They have a nanny that has been with them throughout the process, and the relationship is very healthy. She works at the home 25 hours per week at $12 per hour. The family needs help to continue to pay the nanny for her services while the mother continues to recover. The truth is that it could be as much as a year before the mother recovers fully, but we want to provide initial support for the childcare for four months (18 weeks). The cost is $300 per week, and the total for the eighteen weeks is $5,400.
