Need 21.38 – Single Father Of Two Spent 51 Days In Hospital With COVID-19

Today, we alert you to a single father of two children who spent 51 days in the hospital after contracting the COVID-19 virus. This 49-year-old father has full custody of his 14-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter. He caught the virus last summer and went to the hospital. While there, his health continued to decline, and he fell into a three-and-a-half-week coma. He was kept alive by a ventilator, but he lost over 100 pounds. He eventually recovered, but during his recovery, he developed congestive heart failure. These combined health events forced him to use his long-term disability insurance as he could not perform his labor-intensive job at Pepsi.

He is prayerful that the doctors will clear him to return to work early next month. This man has survived, financially, by supplementing his long-term disability insurance payments with his 401(k) which is now depleted. He only has $1,000 to his name. His monthly rent and utilities total $2,000, and he also needs to get his children a few school supplies and some school clothes. We want to allow him to use the money he has in savings for their immediate food expenses by providing him and his children with rent and utility assistance of $2,000 and a $400 budget for school supplies and clothes.
