Today we alert you to a single mother of two children (6, 10 months) suffering from two severe illnesses. This Need Alert, like so many, is a mission of mercy that brings together a heart-rending situation and a significant financial need. This single mother’s mom was murdered when she was very young. An older woman adopted her and cared for her, but the elderly adoptive mother passed away while she was still young. The mother has been on her own for much of her life. At the age of thirty, she began suffering from congestive heart failure. Last year, both of her kidneys began to fail. She currently undergoes kidney dialysis four days a week for four hours per session. Doctors have told her that she will not live very long with both of these illnesses.

We are working very closely with our local church partner on this need, and a family in the church is caring for the children while she is on dialysis. The same family is also ready to adopt the children if the mother passes away. We have discovered that she has not been able to pay her rent for ten months. While the landlord has graciously tried to work with her, she is facing eviction if $6,000 in back rent is not brought current. She also needs a car to get to her medical appointments, and our partners have identified a car costing $2,800 that will cover her transportation. Finally, she needs a little runway on her rent for the next two months ($1,200) while she figures out how to work through her medical treatments. The total for this Need Alert is $10,000. This is a significant need, and we will treat it as a digital offering plate, keeping the alert open until next Tuesday, Feb 15th at noon or until the $10,000 goal is met. We have seen similar needs met in just a few hours! Please pray with us that God will touch her and heal her. Along with those prayers, and through your gifts, we will extend a tangible expression of the reality that God loves her and cares deeply for her.
