Need 23.28 – Domestic and Sexual Violence Victim In Need
We alert you today to a new single mother of two boys (12, 8) who is facing many challenges. Early last month, her husband was arrested for domestic violence. She is now going through a messy divorce. Her husband drained all of their bank accounts. She works very hard, but all the recent dysfunction in her home has left her with a mortgage that is four months past due. She does not have enough money to cover her job-related fuel costs, let alone to put food on the table for herself and her two boys.
Financial disputes in divorce proceedings can be multi-layered. We want to alleviate her short-term financial needs by providing $400 for gas and food expenses, and we will continue to communicate with her about ongoing needs. Beyond her financial challenges, she also shared that she was sexually assaulted by a co-worker a few months ago. During the course of our conversation, it became obvious that she also needs trauma counseling. We want to provide her with 20 counseling sessions at $75 per hour. The cost for these sessions is $1,500, bringing the total need to $1,900.
