Need 23.105 – Husband/Father Traveling to Medical Specialists
We alert you today to a family in need as the husband/father travels to seek a medical specialist’s advice. In February of this year, he began having major health concerns. He experienced high heart rate, dizziness, and fainting spells without warning. Doctors diagnosed him and determined he had a diseased gallbladder, a hiatal hernia, and severe acid reflux. In April and May, he had his gallbladder removed, TIF stomach surgery, and hernia surgery. The hernia and stomach surgery were unsuccessful, resulting in emergency surgery.
Since the last surgery in May, he has not recovered and has been diagnosed with polycythemia, hypoglycemia, a tumor on his pituitary gland, and a hole in his heart. Furthermore, all blood and hormone levels have been a concern. He has seen multiple doctors, and they have not been able to diagnose his condition.
He got the news last week that he was referred to a specialist over seven hours from their home. He is a self-employed business owner who has not worked since February. His wife has been able to keep them afloat this year with her small bakery business, but they can not take on any additional financial burden. Personal bills, medical bills, and family needs during this time have added up.
Thankfully, childcare has been arranged with supportive family members, but they do not have the extra money for the travel expenses needed to spend the week with the specialist. We estimate it will cost $1,500 for a week of hotel stay, meals, and fuel. We want to help this devoted husband and father get a precise diagnosis from the specialist.
