Need 24.04 – High School Teacher Recovering From Cancer Surgery

We alert you today to a 37-year-old single mom and high school teacher who is recovering from cancer surgery. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer in February of 2023. Doctors started treatment with oral chemotherapy in an attempt to shrink three tumors, and on September 21st, 2023, she underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy with an expected four to six-week recovery. Due to healing complications, she is still recovering from the surgery. She has been fitted with a wound vac and is in wound recovery therapy three times per week and expects to be unable to work for another six weeks. Adding to the trials she is facing, she is also the caregiver for her 90-year-old grandmother, who has no other family support. On December 27th, her grandmother fell and broke her femur. She required surgery but was not responsive after the surgery. She has power of attorney for her grandmother and is now faced with the additional pressure of making end-of-life decisions for her.

This single mother is also facing eviction as the recovery period has caused her to miss work and deplete her savings. She is now three months behind and needs $6,000 to avoid an eviction. We want to help her prevent eviction during this sad time.
