We alert you today to a 73-year-old recent widow who lost her husband of fifty years to suicide last year, leaving her alone and with very little family or support. After her husband’s death, she began a long financial slide and lost almost everything. However, she and her adult daughter are now working to stabilize their lives after this tragedy. They lost their home, have been living in short-term rentals, and spend some nights in their car. All their belongings are in storage, and they have identified a rental home they can afford. The barrier to stabilizing their housing is that they need $3,600 for the move-in fees, and they cannot pay them. (First and last month’s rent with security deposit). We want to help them as they recover by providing them with the move-in fees.
