We alert you today to a young wife and mother of two (4 and 2) who is battling cancer. She worked as a registered nurse until January of 2023, when she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. After about ten months of treatment and multiple surgeries, it seemed like she had made it through the storm and was returning to work on March 8th. However, in that same week, she went to the emergency room with what she thought was pneumonia. It was not pneumonia; it was cancer, and it had spread to her lungs, liver, and bones. She started treatment today with surgery to place a port for chemotherapy.

Her health insurance is the primary financial issue she and her husband are concerned about. Health insurance through her employer was active until February of this year. She now must pay $1044 in COBRA Insurance monthly. She cannot work, and the family is making it on the husband’s income, but they can not afford the COBRA premiums. She is working to get Medicaid, but that will take approximately three months, and the treatment can not wait. We want to help this family through this challenging time by providing three months of COBRA coverage. The total for the three months will be $3,132.
