Need 24.50 – Mother Not Willing to Give Up

Today, we alert you to a young single mother who is seen as a success among her peers. She began college determined to have a career, but while in college, both of her parents passed away. She did not let this stop her, but she continued college, earning her BA and master’s degrees. She secured an excellent job and has been self-sufficient. During this time, she became a single mom and now raises her son independently. He is healthy and thriving in elementary school. She knows her blessings, so she has supported several of her friends who needed some help along the way. However, expectedly, she was laid off in February and given a month’s severance. Since she had been saving, she was sure she and her son would be fine for 4-5 months, confident that she could obtain a new position. She was right: they were fine for five months, and she did obtain a new position. However, because of the timing of the interview process, it took her six months to begin the job. She could give a little towards August’s rent, the remainder of her savings. We want to help with $2,100 to cover the remainder of her August bills to avoid eviction as she receives her first paychecks and gets back on track.
