Today, we alert you to a single mother of a 13-year-old child making positive strides. She was divorced two years ago and awarded full custody of her son. When the divorce was finalized, she did not have employment or savings and was forced to move her and her son into a pay-by-the-week motel, where they have lived ever since. She secured employment with The Home Depot and recently received a promotion. She can now afford an apartment independently but needs a little help with the upfront costs to make the transition. The security deposit and first month’s rent cost is $3,265. She has saved $1,415 and needs help with the remaining $1,850. We want to help her with the amount she lacks as she transitions into more permanent housing for her and her son.
