Need 25.03 – Educator Parents Working Through Severe Water Damage
We alert you to a family of four in need after water severely damages their home. The parents are both in education; the mother is a teacher, and the father works in education administration. They and their children (11,14) are active in their home church and have a strong history of providing for themselves. On January 5th, they did their best to prepare for the first hard freeze of the year. Covering pipes and letting water drip through the night. They awoke at 3:30 am to rushing water from the second floor leaking through light fixtures into the kitchen on the floor below. A sink upstairs in the home flooded and flooded the house. Over the next three days, they worked with contractors to demo the damage and dry out their home. They are now facing a $5,000 deductible after the initial cost of the water restoration to repair the house. As we discussed their need, the father explained that they were at the end of their rope. Last year, tree roots invaded their sewage lines, and they had to pay to have a company dig them out under their foundation. The year before, they had a tree limb fall during a storm and rip through their roof. He explained that he usually would have been able to navigate, but it had all been too much, and they have no credit to access it as a result.
The church has set up meal trains to help lower food costs while they cannot access their kitchen. He is working side jobs to earn the required deductible. We want to help them with their monthly bills of $3,500 to provide some financial relief while recovering from the water damage.
