Need 25.21 – Single Mother Has Emergency Brain Surgery

We alert you today to a 33-year-old single mother who was recently discharged from the hospital and needs our help. She cares for her two-year-old daughter and 10-year-old brother, whom she rescued from foster care two years ago. Her mother is an addict and was unable to care for her brother, so she petitioned for and was granted custody. During the last week in January, she started having severe headaches, which persisted for three weeks. On February 11th, she passed out at work while helping a customer at the big box retailer where she’s worked for the last 4 years. She was rushed to the hospital, where they discovered two blood clots in her brain. She had emergency surgery the next day, which was successful in breaking up the clots. She remained in the hospital for 4 weeks and was released last Thursday. Her neurologist said she is recovering well but will not be ready to return to work until late May. She does not have disability coverage through her employer. She called us asking for help with March and April’s rent, but we learned she does not have the means to pay for May and June. Her rent is $1,735/month. We want to bless her with four months’ rent.
