Need 26.09 – 2-Year-Old Spends Week In Hospital
We alert you today to a young family of four, soon to be five, who need a little help. They have two toddlers (3,2) and the mother is pregnant with their third child. The father works in the trades, while the mother works as a school teacher, and they have a strong history of providing for themselves and their children. Over the past month, their two-year-old has been ill with what turned out to be RSV. The child’s illness initially took the mother from work to stay at home with their child for the first week, then the child was admitted into the hospital for the following week. Upon leaving the hospital, the child could not return to normal child care until after the following week. The mother does have PTO and sick time, typically, but she recently was forced to use those resources due to complications from her pregnancy. As a result, she did not get paid for the three weeks her child was sick.
As you can imagine, the mother’s three-week absence from work has caused a budget issue for this young family. They were not able to pay a large portion of their February bills. They need $1,600 to get caught up, and we are confident they will be self-sustaining as they head into March.
