Story

We alert you today of a single mother, of 3 children, that has been homeless since July. The children are 5, 9, and 18 years old and the youngest has Down Syndrome. The 18-year-old son has moved out and is providing for himself but she has been caring for her 2 young children while living in motels and recently with the children’s former nanny.

It all started when she lost her employment. She really struggled to regain employment and eventually lost their home. She had no family in the area to help them, but she did eventually gain stable employment. We are working with her through one of our local church partners and she has secured stable housing. The issue is that she can not come up with the first month’s rent that is due tomorrow. She has already paid the $600 deposit and will lose that money if she does not take possession of the house tomorrow by paying her first month’s rent. She has basically been caught in the cycle of paying very high weekly rent at motels and this has been keeping her from saving enough to get into a more stable place. We are very confident that she will be stable after securing this housing.

We would like to help her secure housing for herself and her children.
