He has type 1 diabetes and sustained an injury to his foot several months ago. His job as a technician requires him to be on his feet all day. Because he is committed to providing for his family and places work very high on his priority list, he continued to work through the injury. Due to his diabetes, his foot would not heal as he continued to work and he became at risk of losing his foot to amputation if he did not take time off work. What they thought might be two weeks turned into six weeks, and the family is now in financial crisis. They need rent payment, car payment and utilities for the month.
