Check your ego at the door. (POSTED)

I know the title of this lesson seems harsh. It is really not intended to be harsh at all. To be honest I am really talking to myself and just sharing my thoughts on this issue in my life with you. Ego can be a double-edged sword. I know we are all familiar with the word, but let us define it. Ego is a noun and is defined as a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.

Ok, so your ego is how you value your self-worth and importance. You should know that you are important and have immense value to your creator and an important role in His kingdom. That is one side of the sword. However, sometimes our ego gets us into trouble. Any attempt to maintain or create any sort of hierarchy of talent or importance in the kingdom of God is damaging. To truly serve you must make the other person’s wants and needs more important than your own. You must render yourself less important than the other person. If you want to be a true servant you must first check your ego at the door.

Take a look at what Jesus says on the matter in Luke 9.

The Greatest in the Kingdom

46.) Then his disciples began arguing about which of them was the greatest. 47.) But Jesus knew their thoughts, so he brought a little child to his side. 48.) Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.”

I hope you are having a great day and I hope to talk to you again soon.

In Christ,
