Story
We alert you today of an opportunity to get involved with a ministry that is having an incredible impact. One of our church partners is only a 2 year old church. However, the impact that the people have had on their community has been exciting to watch. God has moved in so many ways with this young church and the ministry that is pouring out of it is very encouraging.
I personally spent some time with their leadership team a few weeks ago and was also with them for that Sunday. They are doing work in many areas and they need just little help with this one event.
Last year the church choose to engage with the local high school football team. The school is within walking distance to the church and has become sort of a community center to many of the boys. Several of the church members have become chaplains for the team, attend practices, and are on the sidelines for the games. The church also provides a meal for them on Thursday nights where everyone just hangs out together.
At the end of the season last year they took these players on a retreat to the mountains 2 hours away from the church. Many of these boys live in tough environments and for them to get away with leaders of the church proved to be incredibly fruitful last year. The only issue facing this young church is the cost. Most of these players’ families simply cannot pay for the retreat. Last year we alerted you of the retreat and you were able to send most of the boys through your donations.
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to help this church take these boys on a retreat again this year. The group has grown a bit and the cost is a little more. We want to rally around them and do what we can. It costs $125 to send one player. The total goal for the trip is $4,000. The people of this church are also raising money.
We will do sort of a “digital pass the plate” and will keep this need open for 48 hours.
