Good Morning.

We alert you of a need we have developed from a 68 year old single woman. She originally came to us needing help with her rent. As we do with any person in need, that is willing, we took her through a detailed budget analysis. In that analysis we quickly realized that she is able to make everything work on her own if she just had a little help.

She was living on just her Social Security income and a very small annuity monthly payment when the transmission on her car required work. Because she was already living on such tight margins, this issue threw her finances into a tail spin. In order to try to save her transportation she took a loan at a title pawn store on her car. This fixed the immediate issue, but eliminated the margin all together and made her monthly budget unmanageable.

That is when she secured part time employment at a church office. Adding this income has made it possible for her to manage her expenses monthly and even made it possible for her to save a little every month. However, the title pawn she took out is destroying her budget. The payment she is able to make each month only “saves” her car and the balance she owes continues to go up each month.

So here is what we have as a result…

A single woman at retirement age that is working part time and has the potential to provide for herself. However, the title pawn decision is now endangering her ability to work because it threatens her transportation. She has no way of paying it off fast enough and the balance & payment go up every month. It is just a matter of time before she loses her car and ability to get to her part time job.

We would like to pay her Title Pawn off.

If we are able to do this we see a clear path to her being able to catch up on her rent on her own and maintain a manageable monthly budget going forward.
