Need 21.64 – Displaced Family Needs Help

We alert you today to a family that was displaced when their landlord sold the property they had rented for years. The mother and father have a 10-year-old daughter. They also provide a home and care for her aunt and mother who both have disabilities. This couple is involved in their local church, volunteering in the children’s ministry. In June, they were given a 30-day notice that they could no longer rent the home. They tried to secure a new place to live and, although they both work full-time, they were unable to find a place within their budget. At the end of the 30-day notice, out of necessity, they moved into a motel that also exceeded their budget.

We began working with this family soon after they moved into the motel, and assured them that, when they found a permanent place to live, we would try to help them. They have found a new rental within their budget, but the motel payments have put them in a position where they are living paycheck to paycheck. They lack the funds needed to secure the new rental. Their first month’s rent, security deposit, and utility hook up total $1,975. We want to help them with their move-in costs.
