Need 22.13 – Single Mother Needs Help With Child’s Tuition
Today we alert you to a single mother who needs a little help with her young child’s tuition. She is caring for the child independently from the father who has given very little help, even though he is court-ordered to cover half the cost of child support. The child completed pre-school, and his instructors confirmed that he was ready for kindergarten. Because of his birthdate, they missed their county’s kindergarten enrollment cut-off date last fall by four days.
In order to continue his educational progress, the mother enrolled her child in a private school that she could only afford with the help of the child’s father. Unfortunately, the father has let her down again, and she cannot pay the remaining tuition. She owed over $2,500, but she applied for (and received) a $2,000 need-based scholarship, leaving her with a shortage of $500 to keep her son enrolled through the end of the school year. This financial burden will be resolved at the end of May because the child will attend public school next fall. We want to help by covering the remaining $500 in tuition.
