Need 23.55 – Young Woman Becomes Stronger Despite Cancer
We alert you today to a young woman who has become stronger in spite of cancer. She entered the hospital in March with what she believed was appendicitis. To her shock, she was diagnosed with cancer and began chemotherapy treatments immediately. Those treatments continued for the past six months, along with hospitalizations, doctor visits, and sickness from the chemo. She has used all her vacation and sick leave from her job as an administrator in an elementary school. Her savings have also been depleted.
Several coworkers and neighbors, acting on her behalf, organized bake sales and other events to help raise money. Someone from our OneNeed church partner became aware of her situation through one of the bake sales, and the church began to minister to her. Their care so touched her that she began attending church services when she felt well enough. Her faith and peace in the midst of her situation have grown tremendously these past few months, and she thanks God for watching over her.
She has a full body scan in a few weeks, and we are praying that she will cancer-free. The elementary school has renewed her contract for the upcoming school year and is anxious to have her back full-time. While the fundraising events have made a dent, they have not covered the balance of her added expenses. We would like to give her $2,100 to help cover her rent and other outstanding bills through the month of August.
