She owned the car outright and carried good insurance, which gave her $5,600 toward a replacement vehicle. After purchasing a used 2007 model, she had to pay for some repairs, maintenance, taxes, and fees.

This setback came on the heels of losing her job in June. Her budget was already under pressure at the time. Thankfully, she regained employment within a few weeks.
