Need 24.61 – 55-Year-Old Single Woman’s Life Turned Around
Today, We alert you to a 55-year-old single woman who has gone through a dark time and turned her life around. Her backstory is essential to her current need, and I will do my best to provide the condensed version for the sake of this Need Alert.
Three years ago, she lost her mother, whom she lived with and cared for. After losing her mother, she entered into a deep depression and was diagnosed as bipolar. She lost everything, including her home and car, and ended up in a homeless shelter. While at her darkest moment in the shelter, Jesus met her where she was, and she came to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Quickly, her mental health improved, and she began to work on improving her situation.
She went to truck driving school, earned her CDL, and began driving a truck. She realized life over the road was not a good fit for her when a friend connected her with a home healthcare opportunity with his family member. She made the transition and moved in with the family member to care for her. Unfortunately, this situation deteriorated quickly, and she was forced to return to the homeless shelter. Determined not to give up, she secured employment in retail and moved into a pay-by-the-week motel. Three months ago, she secured a full-time teaching position in a Title 1 school and is thriving in her new career. Go, God! She has received two complete monthly paychecks and has already secured an apartment. This is where her need comes in, and we can come alongside her.
She needs help securing transportation, setting up utilities, and getting some much-needed dental care. We have been working closely with our church partner on her needs, and a staff member has detailed her monthly budget. They identified a car she could afford; the down payment needed is $2000. We feel like her utilities can be turned on, and the dental care provided for an additional $800 total. That brings this need to $2,800 in total. We want to help by meeting these needs as she continues to work to provide for herself.
