Need 24.71 – Health Over Home

We alert you today of a single mom who had to choose her daughter’s health over their home. She has been an outstanding tenant in her apartment for 7 years. At the end of September/first of October, the dentist told her that her daughter’s wisdom teeth were impacted and would have to be cut out and that the girl’s overbite was severe to the point it was breaking down her bottom teeth, causing permanent damage unless she received braces. She felt it was a priority to remedy the dental issues for her daughter’s health. She does not have insurance, so the significant dental costs had to be paid out of pocket. The dental cost was paid from her rental funds, meaning she could only pay a portion of her rent for October. She took out $500 from her 401k to make up the difference but is still $800 short. Since she has been such a good tenant, the landlord gave her until the end of November to pay October and November rent before filing for eviction. We want to give her $800 to make up the difference.
