Need 25.28 – Family of 7 Facing Eviction

We alert you today to a family of seven that is facing eviction. The father has a long history of providing for his wife and five children as a truck driver. Last September, he was abruptly laid off without warning. He did his best to regain employment, but the end-of-year cycles of companies, as well as the holiday season, made it difficult. He worked various odd jobs throughout and was able to regain full-time employment in February, albeit at a significantly lower pay scale. His wife also works as a day school teacher, but her pay has not been enough to sustain them. They are in the process of lowering their expenses and adjusting their lifeslye but are facing eviction in the coming weeks. The normal monthly rent for their home is $1,400, which is significantly below the average rent for their area and aligns with their new budget. We are confident that they can sustain themselves at their current monthly rent rate, but they cannot catch up on the $5,250 needed to prevent eviction. Moving the family and taking on a new rental home would be more expensive in the long run than staying in their current place. We are working with their local care pastor closely, and they are in direct communication with the landlord. The family is also working on solutions. We are going to set the goal for this need for the total amount needed with the understanding that we may just be one part of the solution.
