We are working to help a family in need after the father’s liver cancer diagnosis. He is the main breadwinner for their family of five and, in May, was diagnosed with liver cancer. Doctors are certain it is coming from somewhere else, but have been unable to identify its source. He underwent a lymph node biopsy this week, and the next step is a bone marrow biopsy. He has lost over 100lbs. He supports his family and is a self-employed construction contractor. The wife works, but she does not earn enough to sustain the family without his income. She has been working with Social Security for disability benefits, but is waiting for a complete diagnosis before the benefits will be paid out. When they are, they will also receive back pay benefits dating back to May (the original diagnosis date). However, they need a bridge until the benefits kick in. They need $1,200 to pay their mortgage and utilities for this month. We want to support them as they navigate this challenging time in their lives.
