Story

How is that for a Need Alert title? Seriously, the string of trials that this young family has faced could not be described in a short title.

Good Morning! We are alerting you for the second, and last, time this week. This is a very detailed story that I will try to simplify the best I can while still serving each of you through telling their story accurately. This is a large need so we also feel compelled to explain a little of the background ministry that supports all of our Need Alerts, including this one. So please bare with me as this Need Alert will be a bit longer than the average.

First, we want you to know that this Need Alert, like all Need Alerts, originated at a local church partner. Each partner has a local care team that we have helped them design and they have implemented at their own pace. The local care team consists of a care team leader, care team members, and area experts. The care team applies the relief and connects the church to the person in need and the area experts provide expert service and advice to church leadership, and One Need, from their respective fields. Each One Need church partner has area experts in staffing, plumbing, HVAC, counseling, and so on. The bottom line for you is that we do not turn to a Need Alert as a first option. We only alert about 10% of the needs we work with on to you, the Deeder Network. The other 90% are ministered to through other means such as care teams and area experts. I take the time to tell you all this now because it will help make this particular need more clear to you.

Today’s Need Alert is for a young family that has been through blow after blow for the past year and their church has been with them every step of the way.

When the mother found out that she was with child the couple was just completing the Financial Peace University course at their church. During her pregnancy she was let go from her job. The husband is a firefighter and began working overtime to provide the lost income. While fighting a fire, he tore his MCL and Meniscus and was out of work for 8 weeks. The department still paid him, but he was unable to work the overtime hours. This began to take it’s toll on them, but they were still making ends meet. Then she delivered the baby 3 months early and the child had to stay in the NICU for 6 weeks. The mother also had to deal with complications and has recovered. They began holding yard sales to sell everything they could to get by and rented out their basement to help with monthly expenses. That was when they discovered a major roof leak. $2600 later the roof was fixed, but they were completely broke. Last week their AC unit went out. So at that point they had the baby in an 85 degree house with no AC and the HVAC repair company quoting over $5,000 to fix it.

Or local church partner’s care team enlisted the help of their HVAC area expert and they visited the house last week. They have advised that the AC system is totally shot and the furnace is not any better. Any repair would be a waste and the reality is that they are looking at more repairs as soon as the furnace kicks on this winter. They advised the church partner that $5,000 was a real retail price to replace both units.

The area expert told the family and the care team leader that they would like to replace the units “at cost”. They are not interested in making a dollar on the deal. However, it will still cost $2,000 in material and paid labor. This is an incredible deal, but for this family right now it might as well be $2 million…they just don’t have it. We would like to pay for the cost of replacing the units.

Need

New AC Unit and Furnace = $2,000

Total Need = $2,000

3.) Make donation above.

*As always 100% of your donation is tax deductible and 100% of your money, less the PayPal fees, will be applied to this specific need. You should also know that the relief will be delivered by the local church partner, not One Need.

All Need Alerts are prayed over and fully reviewed before you receive them. When you see a Need Alert from One Need we want you to have confidence that we are providing relief to a person with a real need. Furthermore, you should know that every need originates with a local church partner. Less than 5% of the Needs we work with become Need Alerts. You can feel confident that when you receive a Need Alert, like this one, that we have dug in and worked with the local church partner and the person in need. We know these people, their backgrounds, and have others that confirm these needs.
