Story
We alert you for the final time this week of a young man we have been work with through one of our local partners for some time now. This young man in need has been deaf since birth. He was born to a drug-addicted mother and never knew his father. He spent most of his young life in desperate poverty until he was rescued by DFCS at the age of 16. He suffers from development issues as a result of his childhood and has experienced difficulty developing into a stable and self-sustaining adult. Our local partner has been working with him and helping him. They have helped him secure a job and he has been faithfully working hard for his employer. As it turns out, the owner of the company he is working with is also deaf and this has been an incredibly positive experience for the young man. He is currently living in a friend’s garage and is happy to have his own space. He is saving for an automobile and is making good progress. However, he is facing issues advancing his career because he has very serious dental issues. As a result of poor hygiene and dental care as a child, he is missing most of his teeth. The few he does have are infected and require extraction. This young man is working hard and doing all the right things. He has a stable support system and we feel like if he could get his smile back he would have a better chance of advancing in his employment.
We have worked with an area expert and he needs full upper dentures with extraction as well as a partial on the bottom. We can have this done for him for $2,075. We would like to help him get his smile back.
