Story
Good Morning!
The opportunity God has given us this morning to help with this need has gotten me excited. Seriously, this one has put a pep in my step and I hope it will brighten your day as well.
Alright so, the need is for a 36 year old single mother of two. She is the granddaughter of a missionary and has a 21 year old son and 17 year old daughter. The father has never been in the picture.
So the need simply put is for rent. However, there is more to the story. That is why we have no set rules here at One Need and every situation is treated individually. The reason she is behind on her rent is because she paid the tuition for her son to transfer colleges.
Her son walked on the football team at Arkansas State University. He did not receive a scholarship to play, he just worked hard at getting better and kept his grades up. As happens in football from time to time, coaches moved around. Through these coaching changes an incredible opportunity opened up for this young man. The new coach at Dean College in Boston offered him a partial scholarship to transfer there and play football for 2 years. As you can imagine, the financial relief of a partial scholarship is a big deal to this family.
The mother is an LPN at a local health and rehab facility. She has always paid her rent on time and the landlord has never had any issue with timely payments. That is until April. She was in the process of securing a loan for her son’s tuition at Arkansas State and the loan fell through. As a result, he was going to miss this scholorship opportunity at the Jr. College because they would not release his transcripts.
So she sent the tuition to get the transcripts relaeased. This left her without April rent. May rent is due tomorrow and she has that. She literally just took her April rent and sent it to Arkansas. I have advised her to pay her April rent today and that we would attempt to raise her May rent to get her caught up. She has until the 10th before was incurr a late fee. A local church has already committed $200 to her cause. |
