Straight Paths.

Straight Paths.

Proverbs 3: 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make straight your paths.

Many of us know these verses. These are really great verses to memorize. It is a “quick hitting” proverb that reminds us of who God is. So many times we struggle with knowing God’s will. We place the will of God on this mantle of that is not obtainable.

These proverbs give us some insight in how to live everyday. The first part tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding”. For me, I can comprehend “my own understanding”. I can even acknowledge not leaning on my own understanding to a certain extent. To be honest, it can sometimes be a mystery to “Trust in the Lord”. The reason it becomes a mystery is because of my previous statement. I set the question of “God, what do you want me to do?” in a place where it could not possibly answered. I sometimes put myself into a place where a mystical/super natural answer would be the ONLY way to satisfy my curiosity of what God wants from me… but God CLEARLY tells me in verse 6 AND it is TANGIBLE!!

“In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight”… So my trust looks like this, acknowledging God and giving Him credit through my decisions. I can be decisive KNOWING that even in my own understanding the decision “could be right” or “could be wrong” that my TRUST is KNOWING that God will make it right or “straight”.

As we walk with the Lord and read His word, we can have every confidence in knowing that the Lord will make our paths correct… even if our own understanding leaves us questioning, instead we TRUST.

Soli Deo Gloria
