Need 22.51 – Mother of Three Fleeing Domestic Violence
We alert you today to a mother of three (14,13,9) who we started working with this summer after she fled from a brutal domestic violence situation. The incident happened in July when the father of her children severely beat her. He was arrested and put in jail, but they could not hold him for more than a week. The responding officers were concerned about what would happen when he was released. They advised her to leave the area and go into hiding. After speaking with the officers in the police car, she immediately packed up and drove ten hours away from her home. She left the kids with her family for the time being, since she was without work or a place to live.
We spoke to her again this morning, and her children have rejoined her. She has secured employment and is working more than forty hours per week. Her children will be enrolling in school next week. She qualified for an apartment that she can afford, but she needs $2,500 for the first month’s rent and deposit. The apartment is not going to be ready until the middle of September, so we also want to also help her with three weeks of a motel stay at a cost of $1,400. This woman in distress is fighting so hard to protect herself and provide for her children all at the same time. We want to show her that she is not alone. Let’s come together and encourage her in the name of Jesus.
