We are working today to help a 43-year-old single woman who has been caring for her 70-year-old father through his cancer treatment. In January, the father was diagnosed with Buccal Mucosa Cancer (Mouth Cancer – Squamous Cell Carcinoma). He does have some retirement income but relies on part-time work to make ends meet. He has not been able to work for the past six months and recently has returned to his part-time position. During his treatment, his daughter helped him keep his monthly bills up to date in an effort to reduce stress on him, even though it caused her to be unable to pay her own bills. She is now unable to pay her rent and needs $1,700; otherwise, she will face eviction. During the treatment period, she realized that her father needed daily care even after he was in cancer remission. Her lease is up in two months, and she plans to move in with her father, combine their bills, and make it easier for her to care for him while maintaining full-time employment. We believe this is a good plan and would like to help her with her rent so she can finish her lease and move in with her father.
