Need 24.30 – Family In Need After Son Develops Neurological Disorder

We alert you today to a family in need after their 26-year-old son developed a functional neurological condition resulting in nonepileptic seizure events. The seizures cause paralysis, blindness, hearing loss, chronic pain, and severe memory loss. He was a fully independent and functioning young adult before this health event and now can not be left alone for any period. His mother and father have moved him out of his apartment to live with them, and his mother has taken off work to be his caregiver. They are now undergoing treatment at The Shepard Center in Atlanta, GA, where doctors are working to diagnose his condition further and provide treatment. His future is unclear.

As you can imagine, this unexpected health event has severely disrupted the family’s lives. The father is disabled, and the mother has missed work caring for her son. They face eviction if they do not get help with their April and May rent. They have applied for disability and are getting caregiver support in the future so the mother can return to work. They need the two months’ rent of $1,800 plus $540 in late fees. The total needed to avoid eviction is $4,140. We want to help this family avoid an eviction during this trying time.
