We are working today to help an elderly couple in need after they have experienced one unexpected financial setback after another. They have been married for 50 years and have worked all their lives. Several years ago, the husband was forced out of work when he became completely blind for three years due to a medical condition. He has had 9 surgeries over the past 10 years to restore his vision, the latest just a few months ago. They live on a fixed income now and spend most of their time volunteering in various capacities at their local church.

Here is where the financial storm they have experienced. While driving to church, the engine in their car failed. The cost to repair the car is $6,000. (He is deciding on a repair or another used car) That same week, their sewer line clogged and backfilled into their home. The sewer repair cost is $4,700. Then that same week, the husband lost his 59-year-old youngest brother. The final expenses cost $2,500.

As you can imagine, these events have put them in a hard financial situation. I realize we may not be able to fix everything for them, but I wanted to explain the entire situation, set the goal for their total needs, and pray that God’s will be done. We will close this need on Thursday afternoon.
