Today, we are working with a woman who was a single mom and is now a grandmother. However, the only family that had been living nearby, her mom and brother, passed away last year. Then, in August, she was diagnosed with cancer, followed by surgeries in October and December. In between surgeries and treatments, she continued to work. She is proud to say that she is now in remission. However, with a weakened immune system and body, she has suffered additional medical issues and is currently on medical leave until she heals, which should be by the end of the month. The additional costs, copays, and lack of full-time pay took a toll on her finances. For three months, she has made a payment to the water company but has been unable to pay the full amount due. They have shut off her water and are requiring a deposit plus the unpaid costs to restore service. We want to give her the $700 required to have her water turned on.
